Businesses invited to play starring role in Plymouth's own film festival
The Plymouth Film Festival, founded with the ambition of raising the profile of the city and immediate region in terms of film and filmmaking, is offering sponsorship opportunities for its 2016 programme.
Hoping to attract more productions to the area, as well as supporting existing filmmakers, the festival contributes towards to creating a vibrant and active film scene within the city.
Having already grown from a single-day short film event, to a full weekend celebration, the festival has further ambitions to expand to be city-wide, and on a comparable scale with Bristol's Encounters festival. The 2016 event will span three days and will include numerous educational opportunities for everyone to get involved in.
The 2015 event saw; twelve-time Oscar nominated cinematographer Roger Deakins lend his expertise as a guest judge, over 500 film submissions from over 40 countries around the world for the short film contest, and the first international filmmakers were welcomed to the city.
Sponsors play a vital role in ensuring the success of the festival, which already attracts support from a number of high-profile businesses and organisations across the South West. The event presents a unique opportunity for businesses to raise their profile with audiences and participants of the festival.
The event also contributes directly to the local economy, particularly hospitality sector, and helps to add value to the city as a destination for culture.
Festival organisers anticipate several hundred travelling filmmakers for the 2016 event, and have an increased marketing budget to raise awareness locally.
The value for potential sponsors comes from direct advertising, inclusion in the event awards ceremony, VIP event tickets, and more generally generating goodwill supporting a growing cultural event.
