About us

Plymouth Chamber is the third oldest Chamber in the UK. Having celebrated our 200th birthday in 2013 we’re proud to have played a fundamental role in Plymouth business life, providing a forum for member companies to build and develop their business.

As the independent voice of business in the City our members range from the smallest to the largest employers in Plymouth, with businesses covering all sectors of the economy. With members from across the Plymouth and South West business community we think it’s really important for us to understand our members’ needs, so that we are able to offer a route to influence key policy and decision makers.

We’re passionate about making Plymouth a great place to do business and use our local, regional and national relationships with government and institutions to lobby for changes in policy to improve conditions for our members.

We offer

We work with all levels of local and regional government, from officers working directly on projects to those who influence local decision making and strategic groups such as the Heart of the SW Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).

We engage with strategic groups such as the LEP to ensure that we have an effect on their plans to ensure that they are of benefit to the local business environment and work towards our goal of improving Plymouth as a place to do business.

Nationally, we have access to the Government through our relationship with British Chambers of Commerce, enabling us to add weight to our local and regional lobbying activity.

We address key issues impacting on business growth and development for our region. Our members’ opinions are important to us, and we urge them all to work with us to shape the agenda for our lobbying activities.
