Since 2007, RIO has grown rapidly – from the original staff team of 10, there are now around 40 of us and our areas of work have diversified and changed. We have restored historic buildings, created new enterprises, supported communities and worked with young people. We have even developed a qualification – the SEQ – which is now being delivered to hundreds of young people in the UK and beyond.
> Transforming Schools & Education: We believe in learning that is real, purposeful and contextualized. Learning that connects, learning that impacts and learning that inspires. We also know that this type of learning requires schools to operate in new ways, to make best use of assets, to generate new income, to communicate more effectively and become more resilient.
> Changing Places Through Enterprise: Regeneration and supporting the development of sustainable communities is important to us. Changing people’s lives means not only working with people as individuals, it also changing the places they spend time (including schools) and the context in which they live. All neighbourhoods, towns, cities and communities have challenges, but they all also have assets, and opportunities, that are often unique to them.
> Opportunities: There are many opportunities to get involved with the work that RIO does, from joining one of our learning programmes to gaining skills and experience through volunteering and applying for any jobs we have available.
