Free Breakthrough advice for growing South West businesses
Fast growing businesses in Devon and Cornwall are being given the opportunity to find out about support available through Santander's Breakthrough Programme, at a free seminar being held at Tamar Science Park.
The seminar, which is taking place at 12pm on Tuesday 27 November, is targeted at businesses growing rapidly in revenue and profitability and achieving turnover of between £500,000 and £10m per annum.
It is one of a series of seminars and workshops being hosted by Tamar Science Park as part of its events and services programme aimed at supporting the growth and development of local businesses.
Business owners and managers attending the Breakthrough Programme seminar will find out how the programme can provide companies with the resources and knowledge they need to achieve their full potential.
The seminar will be led by Martyn Drake, Director of Growth Capital at Santander Corporate Banking, who will explain how the different pillars of the programme have been designed to meet the needs of fast-growing SMEs.
The five pillars of the Breakthrough Programme are:
· Breakthrough Growth Capital - the availability of £200 million of growth capital funding, to help bridge the financing gap experienced by many small businesses today and structured to minimise the impact on a company's cash flow
· Breakthrough Master classes - a number of one-day workshops at market-leading companies to learn how they managed growth successfully
· Breakthrough International - overseas trade missions designed to educate and deal with the challenges often faced with exporting
· Breakthrough Talent - the availability of graduate talent, enabling businesses to benefit from fresh thinking, skills and new ideas
· Breakthrough Responsibly - working with partners to encourage the adoption of practices that enable responsibility as well as commercial success
Attendees of the seminar will also have the chance to network with other businesses over lunch.
Martyn Drake, Director of Growth Capital at Santander Corporate Banking said: "This is an excellent opportunity for local businesses to learn how they can benefit from Santander's unique business programme and to take advantage of a bespoke funding package designed to unlock cash within a business; to stimulate investment and further growth; and to help create those all-important jobs in the UK private sector."
Andy Burroughs, Business Development Director at Tamar Science Park added: "The Santander event is an excellent chance for businesses to find out more about what the Breakthrough Programme can offer, including financial support and access to knowledge and skills that may not be available within their own organisation.
"Our programme of events is one of the ways we add value to the businesses that are based here at the Park, and with this event being open to clients and non-clients it will also give the businesses attending from elsewhere a taste of what Tamar Science Park has to offer."
The event is the third seminar to take place at Tamar Science Park in recent months, following an event in September focussing on intellectual property rights and R&D tax reliefs presented by N J Akers & Co and Francis Clark, and a contract negotiation talk from lawyers Foot Anstey in October.
The events programme reflects TSP's role as a founding partner in GAIN (the Growth, Acceleration and Investment Network), set up by Plymouth University, Plymouth City Council and TSP to accelerate growth and investment in high quality businesses and ideas to create wealth and jobs in the region.
Santander's Breakthrough Programme event is free to both Tamar Science Park residents and non-residents, and takes place in the Baylis Suite between 12 and 2pm on Tuesday 27 November.
