The 1000 Club Campaign

The 1000 Club Campaign aim is to recruit 1000 companies in the Plymouth area to commit to support young people into employment, whether that be through work experience, apprenticeship, graduate internships or employment.

Experience of the world of work is key to developing well-rounded young people who are ready to become effective employees and meet the expectations of employers. They will ensure they have the characteristics and skills that employers need and therefore able to support businesses in their growth and the growth of the local economy.

Youth (18-24) Claimant Rate: the percentage of total claimants aged 18-24 is relatively high at 34% compared to 28% nationally. This high proportion of youth claimants stretches back to the early 1990s and the rate has increased steadily since 2000 when it was 24.1%.

The partners offer a range of support, and are partnering to share expertise and experience to ensure that businesses receive the best service and students get the best support.
