The Rural Focus Service helps rural and farming businesses across the South West of England. The team of specialist rural advisers are dedicated to improving the profitability and competitiveness of businesses by providing access to the impartial, independent and practical advice they need to succeed. The Improving Your Resource Efficiency Service offers 12 hours of free and impartial specialist environmental support to eligible businesses based in Devon and Somerset. A full site assessment of a business site, processes and any renewables, together with an analysis of utility bills can be carried out resulting in a detailed report recommending key actions. These actions will help to identify and quantify the ways and means to best reduce energy costs. Over 100 businesses have benefited from this service over the last 18 months. Social Enterprise Focus offers face to face help, information and support as well as workshops to those people interested in starting a social enterprise or community interest group. Ongoing support to those already running social enterprises and wishing to expand. This service is available to organisations and individuals based in Torbay and Plymouth only. The Superfast Broadband Business Support service will help rural businesses with growth potential across the South West of England (excluding Cornwall) to maximise the opportunities of Superfast Broadband technology. The service provides business support delivered through a team of expert advisers, workshops and access to an online knowledge hub. This new service will commence in 2013 and co-ordination will be aligned with the planned Superfast Broadband infrastructure roll out across the South West. A new website is coming soon.
