How does it work?
Pre-incubation provides the space and support to an entrepreneur to develop an idea into a viable business. This could include market testing for the idea, linking into specialist networks and expertise, producing prototypes, forming a business plan and guidance to improve business skills. Once a business has been formed then the incubator stage helps you take the next steps to grow your business and successfully move on.
Am I eligible?
Formation Zone is perfect for those wanting to develop a business idea in a supportive and collaborative environment. We are open to anyone but our successful applicants demonstrate innovation, high standards and potential for growth. Formation Zone is looking for business ideas in these priority areas; creative industries, hi-tech, marine, environmental, and advanced engineering.
How much will it cost?
Formation Zone offers a range of services to suit your needs. To allow new businesses to benefit from Formation Zone services we limit the duration of our support to 2 years, and you'll see that our pricing reflects this.
Option 1: Pre-start support
Ideal for assessing the viability of your business idea before starting up.
£60 one-off fee
2 x support sessions, start-up online resource, up to 10 days use of a workstation, network events and access to a professional meeting room. Valid for 2 months only.
Option 2: Formation Zone support and workstation hire
£180 per month per business in year 1, £240 per month per business in year 2.
Offering you:
A workstation in one of our open plan offices. It includes a desk, chair, pedestal storage, IP phone, broadband network and wireless, shared printer / copier / fax / scanner.
Access to expert advice and peer support sessions.
Links in to Plymouth University research expertise, knowledge transfer and innovation opportunities
Access to our start-up online resource and network events.
Access to our professional meeting rooms and a Formation Zone postal address.
Additional charges for a university desktop PC or Mac, where available, on request.
Overheads are included in this rate, additional charges are made for telephone calls and printing.
