Background

Coast Business Solutions was created in March 2009 by director Matthew Wood who previously worked at Ernst and Young and then as a freelance consultant re-engineering businesses to work more effectively using software systems such as SAP, Oracle and Sage.

GAIN – the benefits

When Coast Business Solutions located to Tamar Science Park the company occupied an office, which offered high speed broadband, a good level of security and other services. Shortly another director joined the business and they took on an intern plus a full-time support technician and freelance resources when required.

The business has now been awarded £21,000 from the PWGF and is looking to grow its services, particularly the ERP solution through a partnership with Sage & NetSuite. This has enabled Coast Business Solutions to work with fast growing companies offering a single data-base ‘cloud’ hosted system, enabling businesses to work from anywhere in the world.

Matthew Wood said: “being located at the Tamar Science Park meant we had a very professional image from the start, which included state of the art services such as high-speed broadband as well as being able to expand into larger accommodation when we needed to.

“Winning a PWGF award for £21,000 has meant that we can create a number of positions to take the business forward and reach our goal of becoming the leading ERP services company in the Southwest.”

Coast Business Solution’s clients range from sole traders who need computerised accounting and CRM systems, to larger manufacturers like Burt Chips where a number of operational processes have been transformed. These have included the design and implementation of bar-coding for all materials and finished products enabling the efficient flow of operations from raw material delivery through to despatch of finished products to their customers. The company also specialises in manufacturing engineering companies, offering MRP systems (Manufacturing Resource Planning).
