Somerset Chamber CEO Set For Pastures New
After almost nine years as Chief Executive of the Somerset Chamber of Commerce, Rupert Cox is to leave the Chamber at Christmas to take up a similar position at the Shepton Mallet-based Royal Bath & West of England Society.

Furthermore, the Somerset Chamber is the key to unlocking the door to £16billion worth of supply chain opportunities associated with Hinkley Point C as EDF Energy’s chosen partner to manage the Hinkley Supply Chain Team.
Rupert Cox said,
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Somerset Chamber, so I would like to thank everyone associated with it for their unstinting support of everything I have tried to do to get the Chamber where it is today – at the hub of business influence in Somerset and the South West.
“The organisation and those within it have become a significant part of my life for nearly nine years, and while I will miss the talented team that I have assembled, it is now the right time to develop my career even further with another much larger Somerset iconic brand at the Royal Bath & West of England Society.”
Chairman of the Somerset Chamber, Graham Knight, commented,
“While we are saddened to see Rupert leave us, we can all be proud of what we have achieved under his leadership and look forward to the next stage in the Somerset Chamber’s development with a new Chief Executive who we will appoint in the New Year. Under Rupert’s leadership, the Somerset Chamber is the fastest growing Chamber in the BCC network and we see this trend of growth continuing as we work towards our target of 700 members by the end of 2015, and 1,000 members by 2020.
“In thanking Rupert for his contribution to the Chamber’s success, we wish him well in his new career at the Royal Bath & West and look forward to working with him and his new colleagues in the future. As one of the Somerset Chamber’s longest standing members we know the Society well, so will be keeping an eye on Rupert’s progress over the coming years.”
